Students will develop elementary skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing. Students will acquire vocabulary, structures and patterns necessary for comprehension of standard spoken and written French at the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Novice Mid to Novice High sub-levels. The course provides insights into the diversity of French and francophone cultures and civilizations.

An emphasis on the reading of novels, short stories, poems and plays in French as a means of enhancing basic French language skills. This course includes an expanded discussion of French culture and daily life.
