Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) - Graduation Requirements

The Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) or the Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) is conferred upon students who complete a minimum of 60 CSU transferable semester units with a grade point average of 2.0 or better and complete the following:

• The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum for California State University (IGETC) for CSU requirements or the California State University General Education-Breadth requirements (CSU GE);
• A minimum of 18 semester units in a major or area of emphasis;
• Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADTs) also require that students must earn a ‘C’ or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis.  A ‘P’ (Pass) grade is an acceptable grade for courses in the major if the course is taken on a “Pass/No Pass” basis;
• While a minimum of 2.0 is required for admission to a California State University, some majors may require a higher GPA. (Please consult with a counselor for more information.)
• Complete at least 12 semester units in residence at SJCC.

Please Note: No more than 60 CSU transferable units are required for this degree and no additional requirements will be imposed by San Jose City College.

Associate in Arts Degree (AA) - Graduation Requirements

To be awarded the Associate in Arts degree at San Jose City College, students must complete the following minimum requirements:

• All required major courses with a grade of ‘C’ or better in each course;
• A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0;
• A minimum of 39 semester units from the AA degree General Education pattern;
• SJCC graduation requirements of American History and Institutions, Cultural Pluralism/Ethnic Studies and Physical Activity;
• Competency in writing, reading and mathematics with a grade of ‘C’ or better in each competency course;
• Complete at least 12 semester units in residence at SJCC.

Associate in Science Degree (AS) - Graduation Requirements

To be awarded the Associate in Science degree at San Jose City College, students must complete the following minimum requirements:

• All required major courses with a grade of ‘C’ or better in each course;
• A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0;
• A minimum of 24 semester units from the AS degree General Education pattern;
• SJCC graduation requirements of American History and Institutions, Cultural Pluralism/Ethnic Studies and Physical Activity;
• Competency in Writing/Reading and Mathematics with a grade of ‘C’ or better in each competency course;
• Complete at least 12 semester units in residence at SJCC.
