Facilities Maintenance Technology
About the Program
San José City College offers a certificate and an Associate in Science (AS) in Facilities Maintenance Technology. The Facilities Maintenance Technology Program will provide students with the skills to begin or advance in a career in facilities maintenance. It was designed by the advisory committee to meet industry requirements. Students will learn the skills and concepts necessary to install, operate, maintain and repair control, piping, and mechanical systems in large commercial, medical, institutional, and industrial buildings. Students will also learn trouble shooting skills, problem solving methods and electrical concepts. Continuous improvement techniques and effective written, verbal, and electronic communication skills will be stressed across the curriculum. Classes are designed in lecture and lecture/lab format to give students a solid foundation in general maintenance skills including HVAC/R. A grade of “C” or better is required for all major and certificate courses.
