Certificates of Specialization

San José City College offers Certificates of Specialization.  These certificates are not approved by the State.  A certificate will be issued by the department offering the program.  Only courses will be posted on the student’s transcripts.  Certificates of Specialization will not be posted to transcripts.

Residency requirements for Certificates is defined as 6 units of courses required for the certificate at the college granting the certificate.

All courses within the Certificate of Specialization must be completed with a grade of ‘C’ or better.  A “P” (Pass) grade (or “CR”/Credit) is also an acceptable grade for courses in the certificate.  Cumulative GPA will not be considered in satisfying eligibility requirements for the certificate.
